SuperOva

A cheap but charming NYC lesbian mom muses about muses about consumerism and wanting the good life, without having to pay top dollar for it. (Oh, and with some random ramblings about her own extended family, parenting toddlers, the NYC school system, fashion, Lindsay Lohan, and other fun stuff.)

Gay sheep?

Now that sounds like some weird porn thing, but http://www.spiegel.de/international/0,1518,462314,00.html apparently has been all over European media and the blogosphere. But I just read about this Oregon scientist who is studying rams who seek out other rams only (no ewes) for sex. People are up in arms because they are saying he's studying how they become same-sex-pursuing, so that he can compare it to humans in pursuit of eliminating gay humans before we're even born. But don't we want to know more about the brain and sexuality works? The argument in favor of him is, change society, don't halt scientific research.

Last night we saw Wallace Shawn's one-man show, The Fever, done by the New Group Theater. Ingrid and I both slept through the entire show, nearly. It was sooooo slow, and tearfully boring and I had to read synopses on the internet today to see what it was actually about. It was disappointing because I love Wallace Shawn, but god, that's two hours of my life I'll never get back.

Actually, this gay ram story has been blown out of proportion, according to the NYTimes:

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/25/science/25sheep.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

They were trying to find out WHY they were gay, not make them that way. Interesting story on why you shoudln't trust everything you read on a blog (or from PETA apparently).

Also, I saw Spring Awakening last night on Brodaway. AMAZING! I can't wait to go back, I'll be posting about it later on Nick'd.
