A cheap but charming NYC lesbian mom muses about muses about consumerism and wanting the good life, without having to pay top dollar for it. (Oh, and with some random ramblings about her own extended family, parenting toddlers, the NYC school system, fashion, Lindsay Lohan, and other fun stuff.)

What do we think of Hillary Clinton?

So Hillary's entered the race officially, and she's "in it to win." I know so many people are opposed to her, but I plan to support her. How can we not? Obama just doesn't have the experience. My friend Liz, who works for the Ms. Foundation, says one of her bosses said this about Hillary Clinton, whom everyone expects perfection from and is disappointed that she isn't, in fact, the perfect female candidate: "Hillary deserves the same chance as everyone else to be mediocre." Mind you, this doesn't mean that we're aiming for mediocrity, but did anyone absolutely love John Kerry OR Al Gore? Sure, maybe we need better candidates in the Dem party, but I think there's a reality that any politician who is electable in the US is going to be someone who is compromised, because they have to appeal to both sides of the country, and everyone in the middle.

Meanwhile, happy birthday Ingrid!

Would someone who is truly a perfect candidate ever be foolish enough to run for office?

It seems that we are always expecting something and we are let down from our elected officials. If not before they are in office, then something they do while they are there.

And if a truly "perfect" candidate showed up, would we even vote that honest, hard-working, earnest, smart person into office...or would we more quickly be charmed by the evil, toothy (not that prominent teeth is a sign of a bad person), lying weasel who seems to be saying all the right things and it's not until it's too late that we realize we've made a mistake?

Just wondering.

happy b-day.

And on Hilary? Cool. I don't know. And, I really don't know. But, I do know that Obama's got a uphill battle. Not trying to offend anyone because I'm not just that I live with two elderly people and there generation goes out the most and votes. So if he's really expecting the elderly to vote for him I doubt he'll get elected. And, these two here vote automatically for Dem..anything it's always Dem. And, it is on the fact that he's black. So he really does need to reach out to the 18-40 and try and get as many of those as he can. If not he more then likely won't. And, that is really a generation thing.

Im interested in what Bidden has to say and his thoughts. He's one that has at least made the most sense even when the Dem's over all weren't.
